Instruction Sheet No. 11V
Feed mechanism should be kept clean and well oiled at all times. Check frequently for worn or broken parts and weak or broken springs. With all parts working properly, the only adjustment needed is the label feed trip rod for keeping the labels to the desired height when the machine is running. See Instruction Sheet 12v.
Refilling Label Bed: Hold label bed handle with right hand and press down on disengaging lever with left hand. Then lower bed gently with label bed handle. After labels are inserted, raise to the proper height as show on Instruction Sheet 12V.
Uneven Feeding: When mechanism stops feeding, operator usually turns label feed trip rod, which results in feeding too high, then not feeding at all. This trouble can be corrected by adjusting the detent pawl eccentric shaft to take up wear on pawls. Loosen set screws on side of shaft and turn shaft until there is 1/8" to 3/16" free movement in label bed handle. Then tighten set screws securely. This handle should always have this much free movement.
Feed Failure: Examine label feed mechanism for badly worn or broken parts, or broken or weak springs. A broken or weak detent pawl spring causes label bed to rock at each stroke of the connecting rod. Gum or dirt on feed mechanism will also cause it to stop working. When the feed pawl bracket becomes gummed up, the feed trip spring will not pull it up. To correct this, clean and oil mechanism thoroughly.
Levelness of Labels: Labels should be level from pick up end to paste belt
end. This can be judged from top side of label guide. See Instruction
Sheet 12V. Label bed can be leveled by loosening two cap screws on center label
support. Then turn set screw, (which is in center label support above cap
screw just loosened) to right to raise paste belt end of label bed, or to
left to lower it. tighten cap screws securely after adjustment has been made.
It is advisable to check this frequently.
